"Let's start the journey to save Mother Earth —
our planet. From now."
Our Story
sarO Foundation Nepal was founded in 2018 by Saroj Prasad Sah in Hetauda, Makwanpur — Nepal's green city. Driven by the conviction that every citizen bears responsibility for the environment they call home, Saroj built a grassroots movement from the ground up.
"My City, My Responsibility" — the philosophy that started a movement.
President's Aim: To serve people in the sectors of Entrepreneurship, Business, Science, Politics, Literature and Social Work.
From tree plantation drives and river clean-ups in Hetauda to child empowerment and puberty education programs in Sarlahi's Balwas and Isherpur Municipality — sarO Foundation turns compassion into action, uniting volunteers, youth, and communities across Nepal.
The Person Behind the Mission
What We Stand For
Our work spans conservation, education, youth empowerment, and community-driven environmental action across Makwanpur district and beyond.
Protecting Nepal's biodiversity, forests, rivers and ecosystems through hands-on campaigns and community education programs.
Promoting zero-waste lifestyles and working with municipalities to build sustainable waste systems in Hetauda and surrounding areas.
Training local youth as environmental ambassadors who take pride in caring for their city and inspire those around them.
Advocating for clean rivers and safe water sources across Makwanpur — protecting the Rapti and Bakraha river systems from pollution.
Organising large-scale plantation drives every monsoon, partnering with schools, colleges and local governments to green the city.
Running campaigns, workshops and social media drives that inspire citizens of all ages to make environmentally conscious choices.
On the Ground
From schools to riverbanks, sarO Foundation's programs reach every corner of the community.
A youth volunteer brigade that takes on nature's toughest challenges — cleaning riverbeds, clearing illegal dumpsites, and restoring green corridors around Hetauda.
A year-round initiative planting trees in roadsides, parks, schools and public areas with support from local municipalities across Makwanpur.
A civic awareness program training youth leaders to be local environmental champions, running door-to-door campaigns and school sensitisation sessions.
Periodic clean-up missions along the Rapti River and surrounding waterways, including waste collection, bank restoration and anti-pollution advocacy.
Partnering with schools across Makwanpur to embed environmental education through practical workshops, garden projects and eco-clubs.
Engaging students, professionals and elders to participate in monthly environmental action events across Hetauda and beyond.
